LIFTING
Work began in early 2008 with the boat still in the water but was then delayed over the summer until a space on land became available, she was finally hauled out in October 2008.
DEMOLITION
It starts. The ply under the teak deck was rotten so it all had to be lifted. The boat had little by way of proper deck beams, the cabin was a rather flimsy plywood structure that probably dates back to the late 1940s, but was sitting on a very strong hull.
-
Rot in the plywood cabin sides, so we had to keep demolishing. In the end all of the superstructure aft had to be removed. The funnel and hatches were put aside.
ENGINES
The engines were lifted out to be sent for a rebuild. They had cracked cylinder heads and a corroded cooling system.
