AFTERDECK
First attempt at the afterdeck, initially using douglas fir. Later this was relaid in teak. Because Glala is built like an open boat this deck is of little structural importance but, like the rest of her, it is massive by modern standards.
PLANK ENDS
How do you make the planks feather as they meet the curves around the deck? These diagrams show, schematically, how we calculated the joggles at the plank ends. It's quite simple geometry and produces something almost sinusoidal, which looks very right.

NEW FRAMES AND RIBS
Work on the frames and ribs continues. As the old ones come out the old fastenings need to be removed and the planking cleaned up. The new frames are laminated in place.
The first floors and posts for the bulkheads are fitted. These brace the hull as well as providing support for the interior.
FORE DECK
As well as work on the after section, work is progressing around the engine room and we begin to dismantle the fore deck.
